Redesign framework

From static images to one live water network

The current provincial page shows one province image and 74 sub-district diagrams as uploaded pictures. The redesign stores the network once as data, then draws it as a schematic or on the map.

Proposed structure

Navigation
Two ways in. By admin area: province → district → sub-district → village. By watershed: Yom basin → sub-basin → stream. Water follows watersheds, so people need both.
Schematic view
A clean line diagram, like a metro map, for planning and briefings. Default view for local officials and community users.
GIS view
Real river lines and infrastructure on a base map, with flood-prone and drought-prone areas, land use and imagery as optional layers.
Sub-district interaction
Click any structure for its card: type, capacity, condition, managing agency, last inspection, photos. Trace upstream or downstream from any point.
Status
One legend for normal, watch, warning and critical, using HII ThaiWater thresholds and colours. Sensor readings such as the Mae Lai weir sit inside the map.
Modes
Everyday for management, maintenance and dry-season allocation. Flood or Drought activation for live levels, warnings and affected villages.

Connecting to COPIN later

  • Infrastructure pins. Water infrastructure becomes a COPIN pin type or sub-type. Community observations (silted, overflowing, gate broken) attach to a specific weir or river stretch.
  • Same permission model. Role × Geography × Sensitivity × Ownership decides who sees and edits each sub-district's network.
  • Shared modes. Everyday and Flood activation match COPIN's Everyday and Disaster Activation modes.
  • A separate network module. Keep the water network schema as its own module so it can also feed the HII stream and follow ONWR's official ผังน้ำ format.
  • Filling data gaps. Ungauged streams such as Mae Kam, Mae Sai and Mae Maan can start with staff gauges read by the community through COPIN.

Phasing

  1. Digitise the pilot. Turn this Yom section and 3–5 sub-districts into network data, starting with แม่หล่าย. Lock the schema.
  2. Interactive map. Schematic and GIS views, asset cards, upstream and downstream tracing.
  3. Live data and COPIN. Sensor and ThaiWater feeds, Flood activation, community reporting, then all 74 sub-districts.
